Impress very very slow with Firefox open

I have a Linux terminal server setup for a school. When the students have SO8 Impress and Firefox open, the system becomes very very sluggish. Not sure why. At one time, pspfontcache could cause issues, but have no idea why the system slows down now. Has anyone seen issues with SO8 and Firefox running on Linux?
