Please can you both provide more information, are you installing as root or just as a standard user? Where are you installing to and from what media. What exact version of OpenOffice / StarOffice are you using?
If you are on SO - is it the trial version or a full version, if so have you looked at your support contract if needs be?
[root@yangwenchaolinux64 ~]# ps -ef|grep starsuit
root50211 0 21:58 ?00:00:00 /bin/sh /etc/starsuite8/program/soffice -writer
root5029 5021 0 21:58 ?00:00:00 /etc/starsuite8/program/javaldx
root51331 0 22:03 ?00:00:00 /bin/sh /etc/starsuite8/program/soffice -base
root5141 5133 0 22:03 ?00:00:00 /etc/starsuite8/program/javaldx
root5196 5178 0 22:03 pts/100:00:00 grep starsuit
it means that processes had ran on background ,but why didn't window appear
root@yangwenchaolinux64 ~]# ps -ef|grep starsuit
root 18154 1 0 23:46 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /etc/starsuite8/program/soffice -writer
root 18162 18154 0 23:46 ? 00:00:00 /etc/starsuite8/program/javaldx
root 18196 18129 0 23:46 pts/5 00:00:00 grep starsuit
look at result ,it's very strange process call 'javaldx'
when i kill the process ,the writer appear correctly
why?what purpose is 'javaldx'
and when the windows appeared, the fonts of toolbar was so bad .(simpilfied CN)
softimagehost :
I will be honest, I do not know anything about simplified CN fonts so I will not be able to answer that side of things - (can anyone else help here?)
As for the javaldx, I have looked at the known issues list this seems like an occurance of an old bug, at what stage do you get the issue - is it when you are installing or when you are trying to run the application.
Either way, please check you are running the latest version of Java in the first instance.
Thanks
B
i got the resault when i tried to run the application, but no response,so i tried to find out whethre the process was running . in fact ,the processes was runnin on backgroup.
so you mean the java bugs lead to the error.how to fix them .and how to update my java version. is that effctive?
thanks
Im not sure the best way to update your java - I would download and use the recommended installation method, have a look at:
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Choose the correct version of Java for the machine you are installing it on, then have a look at the installation instructions at:
http://java.com/en/download/help/5000010600.xml
Give this a shot first and verify that it is working - then you may need to re-install Ooo and this is a good point to start from.
Cheers
