Black Screen after installing

I am trying to setup Solaris 9 x86 to evaluate it (and in the process, educate myself). But I am running into this predicament:

After installing the software using webstart (thru the graphical interface), when the machine reboots, I only get a black screen (after loading the kernel, passing the inits scripts, when it must launch the graphical frontend to login). And stays there forever.

I assume is a problem with the graphic card (intel), but no matter what combination of settings I change in the kdmconfig there is no way to avoid the BLACK screen. No way to console login.

Thanks for any help. Will be greatly appreciated.

I managed to get something: after using the VGA - 16 Colors in 640x480, I am capable of login in, using CDE, and everything seems to be working properly, albeit rather ugly.

But how the X server WAS looking OK when I installed the system, and when I try to log in (after installation) the SAME settings does not work any more.

Please any info, advice, or help will be greatly appreciated.

Alejandro.
