Creating Bootable CDs for Solaris 10

Hi dears,

I am new to Solaris. I downloaded the windows cd files. I extracted the ISO and burnt the files on CD. When I insert it in my cd drive it reads the cd but does not launch install. Also when I boot with this CD nothing happens. I noticed that the .install_config file is 0bytes.

Is there anything else I need to do to sort this out? Please help.

I am facing the same problem, that made me repeat the process of downloading and burning the iso file to a cd several times. I had also try different settings on cdwriting configuration, used another iso burning software but have no luck. The cd will start to boot but after displaying Sun OS header the cdrom will start to slow down and stop and the only way to do is to restart the system with an existing OS.

Hope somebody could share a little concern to us, although its a simple problem.

Hi,

I have resolved this problem. I used Nero ISO to burn the CD. You can download Nero Express and use the ISO option. As soon as you choose open select file with extension *.iso. Then click burn.

The only problem I am having now is that my training computer's network was not detected during installation so I can configure it for ipd addressing etc. At the moment however, I am just learning the fundamentals of UNIX(Solaris).

I hope this helps.

I extracted the ISO and burnt the files on CD. When creating bootable CDs, iso file MUST NEVER BE EXTRACTED before burning. Otherwise the CDs can't be bootable
