Generic_118855-19

I want to install sun OS on my x86 machine. The requirment is that after installtion when I type the coomand uname -a it should show Generic_118855-19. Do you have any idea which version of solaris i need to install. I am trying to download Solaris 10 6/06 Operating System. I hope it works :-)

I believe out of the box sol 10 x86 6/06 will be 118855-17.So you would need to install 118855-19 on top. Plus any prerequisite patches.But without a service contract, you get a very limited choice of patches.I don't know if thats one of them. It probably is.

I have one system which has sun solaris 10 but it is Generic_118844-26. Will I need to install patches to upgrade it to Generic_118855-19

Yes.You could start by upgrading it to Sol10 6/06 which would get you closer.But you would still need patches to get to 118855-19 (which is current).Security patches are freely available, and I believe the kernel patch is counted as a security patch.

Location?They're at the Sun web site.You go to http://www.sun.com ,then you see the link in the top banner that says "Support".There will be a drop-down menu from that word ...One of the choices in that drop-down menu will be "Patches".
