Sun Cluster 3.0 connected to EMC Symmetrix
Hi,
I have a customer running on Solais 8 with Sun Cluster 3.0 and Veritas Volume Manager 3.2The JNI HBA is shared by EMC Array and the Tape-library via to a SAN switch. They have only one path to the EMC Array and considered to add it 2 more HBA (Different Brand Emulex LP9002)card to provide multipathing AND Remove the OLD JNI card.
Ist option:
I think it will be safer to remain JNI HBA for the Tape-Connection and migrate the OLD JNI Link EMC Symmetrix disk to the 2X Add on Emulex Card incase I need to restore any Data.
Ist Option:
The action is as follows:
1.Shutdown both the Cluster node
2.Zone the NEW Emulex HBA to the EMC sysmmetrix disk
3.boot -xs
4.Configure lpfc.conf and remove the old config for jnic146.conf of the EMC Symmetrix disk
5.boot -rxs
6.devfsadm -C
7.scdidadm -C
8.boot -r
9.scgevs
10.Format
11.vxdisk list -- Hope Veritas will be able to detected the disk
Is the above steps safe to perform in order not mess up the DID database.
2nd Option:
1.Shutdown both cluster
2.Just remove the OLD JNI and insert the 2X Emulex HBA card.
3..Zone the NEW Emulex HBA to the EMC sysmmetrix disk
4.Remove OLD JNI driver and add in Emulex driver
5.boot -xs
6.Configure lpfc.conf to detect the EMC disk
7.boot -rxs
8.Format
9.vxdisk list
I will like to seek your advice which is the best option to carry out in order to minize any impact cause on the Sun Cluster or otherwise
