ACPI question

Hi

I was finally able to load the system when I disabled the ACPI in BIOS. However when it boots, it doesn't see the network card.

Nexenta (livecd) was able to detect the network card and initialize the network without any changes to the BIOS.

Is there a way to disable ACPI but without "missing" any hardware?
