Tiger1234,
You state that "this is my most important production server".
Considering the amount of investment you have into the hardware of this system,
considering the capabilities of that platform design, and
considering the complexity of such a high end system,
I suggest you use your service contract and open a support case.
You can find the phone numbers and address of your closest support center here:
http://www.sun.com/secure/contact/
These forums are not hosted to take the place of tech-support.
They are a place where end-users can discuss various topics.
Forum postings on Midrange and High-end systems are discouraged.
If I were to tell you some sort of instructions and it ruined the system
so that it would not work for three days, you would have no recourse,
and may just get fired from your job for listening to the advice
from some unknown anonymous person on the Internet.
Use your contract.
Get accurate information from Sun.
If something unfortunate should result,
you have the contractual obligation to lean upon,
for proper support from Sun employees.
Your service contract is a legal partnership for the proper operation of Sun products.

I remember the good old days when you purchased a 15K, you basically had to take out Platinum coverage. If you have the coverage, you should use their services but don't let Sun talk you into anything silly.
One thing to keep in mind with the high end servers is that they are awesome systems that are easily configured with a bit of knowledge. When they bought out the E10k, Sun saw the absolute need to make them much better and the 12k/15k fixed the short falls of the 10k.
Basically, it is hard to stuff up the config of a large SunFire and you need to be aware of what they can do. Most large companies will DR in bits and pieces when they have a need to do so. Eg, end of month processing requires more CPU/RAM/IO. It is easy to configure the system controller to do that for you.
So, even though it appears like a daunting expensive, highly important piece of hardware, don't be frightened to use the power of them. Unless you drop one of the back of a truck (I have pictures of that), have a go with it.
