Newbie Data Binding Help

I am new to Java Studio Creator and am trying to figure out the data binding on pages that do not use the basic table component. I was following an online example, where you can change a drop-down value, and the table component on the page would update for those matching records. However, if I put a text field on that same form (not in the table), it would not update...even it I set it to bind to the same table that the drop down was in.

So, I looking for some guidance on how to use Java Studio Creator to build an online application that feels similar to one that would be built with Access, or FileMaker. Where there are always text fields on the layouts holding the data so that it can always be updated, instead of using static text. Also, I want to place the text fields anywhere on the page...not just inside of a table component.

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie.

If you post a little bit more information about your application (snippets) I will try to help you.CheersLuca
