How Exclude Trash & BulkMail while performing Backups using imsbackup

Hi

I was trying to exclude trash & bulkmail while taking backup of our

mail store so i have specified value using configutil as shown below

local.store.backup.exclude = Trash%BulkMail

but while taking backup it is not excluding the trash & bulk mail.

1) Can anybody tell me whatz the problem with my config ?

2) Here i have tried to perform online backup so i didn't gave restart

to store after specifying value using configutil.

3) Is it necessary to restart store after giving values using configutil?

Thanks in Advance

Yes, it's required to restart stored (and therefore) the rest of the server after making this change to config.

Hi Jay

Yesterday i have started taking backup using imsbackup command.

and i'm taking backup's using 24GB tapes ?

when the first tape gets completed it was asking me to insert the second

tape & also to enter the tape name . so i have inserted the new tape & while entering the name by mistake i have entered some wildcard charecters

It showing that it started taking backup (because i gave -v for verbose)

but the backup is not coming to my tape device. so i have stopped my backup.

my ques are ....

1) now i want to backup the mailbox's which is after the the first tape & not from the first ? can u tell me how to do this ?

Thanks in Advance

It likely would take you longer to parse the existing partial backup to determine exactly what is backed up, and then create a list to back up, than it would to simply overwrite that tape, and do a full backup, again.

One thing that may shed some light. What exact version of Messaging are you using? Please run:imsimta versionand post the results. This feature was added to 5.2p2 and later. It should work.

well, 5.2p2 is after 5.2hf1.21.

Either contact Tech Support for the most current hotfix, or download 5.2p2 from the Sun download site.

5.2p2 is now considered, "old", as it's well over a year old, but it's later than what you currently run.

As I've said many, many times, 5.2 is on the way to End Of Support Life. You should be thinking about looking at 6.2, now.

6.0? Truly? 6.2 has been out over a year, now. . . . . We're expecting to see 6.3 out in just a few months. . .
