Scenario with AD-ISW-DS

Hi everyone.

I'm newbie with Directory Server as well with Identity Synchronization for Windows, and I'm facing a situation which I would to receive some tips from anyone.

I have an Active Directory with my current users. I had synchronized it with DS into machine A (Windows) via ISW. Everything runs fine. But this server isn't prepared for use with Messaging server. My idea was replicate this data with a new one, residing in a machine B(linux).

The schema looks like that:

Active Directory ==>DS(Windows) ==> DS(Linux) ==>Messaging(Linux).

Running Directory Preparation Tool into machine B, it created an OU called mydomain.com, where all users that uses Messaging server must be.

Now, my doubts:

1 - Can I create the same OU in DS at machine A, replicate it to machine B, and Messaging server will be able to understand that replicated OU like its users?

2 - Is there any way to remove the DS at machine B, and tell Messaging server to use just the machine A as its users source?

Can anyone suggest me some points about this situation?

Best regards,

Luiz Felipe de Souza Gomes.

Being totally unfamiliar with ID Sync, I just don't know. . .

Messaging Server requires many more attributes and object classes than your AD contains.I don't know how ID Sync handles this kind of thing.

Certainly, if you can figure out how to handle that, applying the comms_dssetup script against your DS is the answer. ...
