Compression on HP DAT72 drive

Need some help with getting a HP DAT72 drive to hold more that 30G on my V210 Solaris 9 box. I'm using ufsdump with the 0cn device but still cannot get anywhere close to 72G before getting the "end of tape" error. I have tried loading the lastest patch (113277-49) then restarting with boot -r with no luck. I'm missing something stupid....

Hello Jeff,

if the data you are trying to backup is already compressed (e.g. zip, jpg, mp3) there would be no reduction in size (it might even grow!).

They usually assume 2:1 data compression, e.g. for DAT72 36G is the native (uncompressed) capacity.
