The subscription key is your Sun contract number (if you have one) which will enable access to the full features of the tools (like the ability to manage the host through the web portal) and patches for this host after registration.
If you do not have a subscription key just leave the field blank and after registering you will have access to only critical and security patches and only the basic features of the toolset (like the update manager gui and smpatch command line tool)
