I have the following problem - while trying to download apache2 patch:

The following patches were not downloaded:
120544-06: Unknown HTTP status code returned.
smpatch gets patches from sun update connection proxy. What should I do to resolve it ?

The error which you are seeing is probably a result of the way which you have your client & proxy configured.
Please can you run the following commands on your:
SunUC Proxy
$ uname -a
$ cat /etc/release
$ showrev -p | egrep -e '121453|121118|120335|121081|121563|122231|119788'
$ showrev -p | egrep -e '121454|121119|120336|121082|121564|122232|119789'
$ cat /var/patchsvr/solaris/WEB-INF/web.xml | grep patchsigning
$ /usr/lib/cc-ccr/bin/ccr -g cns.assetid
$ patchsvr setup -l
$ smpatch get
$ smpatch analyze

There is an important amendment that needs to be made to the web.xml file on the patch server. From the output you supplied earlier the relevant line currently reads:

This line needs to be changed to:
<param-value>patchsigning:patchsigning2</param-value>
This change is required as there were changes made to the certificates used by Sun UC. Stop and start the patch server after this.
Try smpatch download again from the client. If it still fails try clearing the cache on the client by removing all directories and files under /var/sadm/spool/cache/, except for the updatemanager directory, then try again.

The HTTP error may be being returned from the web proxy. Can you test whether Update Connection on host monitor, which does not use the Update Connection Proxy on itself but connects directly to the web proxy, can download the patch. Also run a snoop to check the HTTP
codes being returned by the web proxy.
$ snoop -o /var/tmp/sun-uc.snoop host <PROXY>
$ smpatch download -i 120544-06
The problem is that it is unpredictable. E.g. when I want to download many patches, let's say 10, at first it downloads a few (e.g. 4). Next time I run it it "downloads" more (I mean first 4 already downloaded plus next 3 patches). When I run smpatch for third time it "downloads" at last all the patches (4+3 already downloaded + last 3).

We'd need to review the SUnUC proxy logs to verify why things are failing and as such i'd recommend that you raise a support case with Sun so the team can best advise you on how to troubleshoot further.
I did notice though that there is one more incorrect setting on the SunUC proxy (though this is not relevant to your current error) -
patchpro.install.types https://getupdates1.sun.com/solaris/rebootafter:reconfigafter:standard
Obviously the URL specified for this setting is incorrect and can be removed/reset by running the following command -
