smpatch analyze or download doesn't work at all

Hello Support

This command does't return any right informations:

# smpatch analyze

No patches required.

# smpatch download -i 124393-01

No patches required.

Please give me why ? The patch 124393 -01 ist not installed on my system.

PLEASE WHEN YOUR MASTER SERVER PATCH IS NOT AVAILABLE, CAN YOU INFORM BY RETURN CODE IN smpatch command or by a Sun Alert.

Something is screwed up on Sun's end...

I have about 80 patches downloaded from another host (clone) but when I run smpatch analyze or smpatch download, it says 'No patches required'.

I have the latest v1.08 update connectin patch... I cleared up everything in /var/sadm/spool/cache but still.

Solaris 10 in my case.

smpatch get:

I've started seeing this as well on some hosts.

Running smpatch analyze generates errors in /var/adm/messages starting with

Nov 9 16:21:49 anumail7 root: [ID 702911 user.error] => com.sun.patchpro.model

.PatchProModel@1e9f5cc <=non-descript failure while closing database. String ind

ex out of range: -1

And then reports no patches required even though I know there are.

Ive seen something similar in the past on hosts which has components of the Java Enterprise system installed. But these hosts don't have JES installed.

The machines in question are Solaris 10u2 and Solaris 10u1.

Different hosts started showing the symptoms at different times.

I suspect that hosts had the patch metadata cached. And the latest version is corrupted. So when the cached copy expired, they downloaded the new version and started showing the symptoms.

Dear All

The error "non-descript failure while closing database. String index out of range: -1" is a known issue which is currently being investigated by our engineering team.

We expect there to be a patch release shortly (within 1 week) to correct this.

We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing and will post more information as soon as we have it.

I'm having the exact same error.

Still works fine as a proxy for other servers, but it can't patch itself. :/

Sun, I love you, but damn, this new patch management system you have gone to has tried my patience quite often....

Please post any errors pertinent to the Update Connection proxy , you may wish to produce an smpatch debug log and review it (too large for posting) using the following :

# smpatch analyze -@ -C patchpro.internal.statustags=true -C patchpro.log.level=7 -C patchpro.debug=true -C patchpro.log.file=/tmp/smpatchDebug.log
