Problems installing patch 121118-08

Hi,

I am having troubles with patch 121118-08. Lately I have been having problems trying to update patches on my server using smpatch. It would stop analyze/update process with error: connection reset. I decided to apply patch 121118-08 and see if that would remedy the problem. That is when the problem went from bad to worse. Installation of patch 121118-08 failed miserably and it looks like the /var/sadm/install/contents file inside all zones is messed up. This server is Netra X1 with 5 zones and Solaris 10 6/06 s10s_u2wos_09a SPARC. If I try to re-install this patch it gives me following errors:

Thepackage <SUNWcsu> is a prerequisitepackage and is not completely

installedforpackage <SUNWppror> on zone ....

Thepackage <SUNWcsu> is a prerequisitepackage and is not completely

installedforpackage <SUNWpprou> on zone ....

No changes were made to the system.

## Interrupted:package <SUNWppror> not installed in any non-global zones

Is there any way to fix this mess or am I stuck rebuilding my zones?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hi Fil,My guess would be that it would be best to rebuild....but, i'd recommend raising a support case and getting the opinion of someone better suited to more general OS questions if your concerned or require further assistance.

Well I fixed the problem by reinstalling original SUNWcsu package and than adding

SUNWppror, SUNWpprou, SUNWupdatemgrr, SUNWupdatemgru and SUNWppro-plugin-sunos-base packages. After that the patch 121118-08 applied cleanly.

To bad Sun decided to change the 20 year old patching strategy with something so error prone and definitely enterprise not ready. This was my second or third time having serious issues with new updated tools...

thanks for your help.....
