Sun Ultra 60 - Problems to install patch 119850-21

Hi,

I'm running Solaris 10 on my Ultra 60. I've been using for many months - without any problems - Sun Update Manager in order to keep the system updated. Lately it always tells me that patch 119850-21 is available, but when it tries to install it fails. I also tried to download and install that patch manually in single mode with patchadd, and also tried smpatch. Both of them fail to install this patch, reporting problems in checkinstall, saying that the patch is already installed - which is not true according to 'patchadd -p'.

Thanks for any input on this issue.

That all looks OK.Could you post the full error thrown when you try to install the patch manually, and also the contents of /var/sadm/patch/119850-21/log if it exists?Thanks.Mod.

Unfortunately that didn't really help. We've also not been able to replicate this problem as the patch installs fine in our test lab machines.

We would like to check the status of all the packages which are patched by this patch. Please post the output of the pkginfo command below:

I believe a bug has just been opened for this. Could you try installing patch 118822-20 , then 118822-30 , then try installing 119850-21 again? It looks like 119850-21 incorrectly requires 118822-20 (which isn't listed in the showrev from your previous posts).Mod

I tried to install 118822-20 but it complains about higher versions already installed. I could try to uninstall those patches, but I'm afraid I'll fall into a deinstall/install/reinstall loop.I think I'll wait for SUN to fix 119850-21.Thanks very much for your help Mod !!
