Can that monitor understand Sun's default resolution of 1152x900 @ 66Hz refresh ?

(many monitors refuse to run at 1152x900)

Will that LCD monitor even run at conventional 4:3 resolutions?

(such as 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200)

The Creator card is NOT capable of producing output at the monitor's optimal 1680x1050.

Where did you get the DB13W3-to-HD15 dongle?

If it's a Sun-branded part, the part number is molded onto that cable. (530-xxxx).

Do you have a Sun keyboard and a mouse directly connected to the system?

... no keyboard = output goes to the default diagnostic console port.

No OS as yet?

The Sunblade 1000 is likely producing output to TTYa (serial port A),

because it has no configuration to tell it what model graphics card is in the chassis.

Trawl these forums for previous discussions about connecting to

the TTYa port of the computer.

Perhaps use the forum search, using keyword "tip".

There are also many, many previous posts with keyword "monitor" or "creator"

Get the SB1000's documentation from the Sun System Handbook:

http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/SunBlade1000/SunBlade1000.html

In particular, you might review the Getting Started Guide and the Service Manual.

Be prepared to find a different monitor for your Sun workstation.

My monitor is a Viewsonic vx2235

VIDEO INPUT Analog/Digital RGB analog (75 ohms, 0.7 Vp-p)/DVI-D (TMDS, 100 ohms)

Frequency Fh: 30~82kHz, Fv: 50~85Hz

Sync H/V separated (TTL), composite, sync-on-green

I have sun type 6 keyboard and mouse(USB port). After powered on the monitor and sun box, I couldn't get any display on the monitor. No ok prompt.

In SUN DOC, I didn't see that ttya connection is needed for installingSolaris 10 on a non-OS system.

In SUN DOC, I didn't see that ttya connection is needed for installing

Solaris 10 on a non-OS system.

If the keyboard isn't detected, ttya is used instead for input (obviously!) and output.

No keyboard = no display on the framebuffer (graphics card)

ttya isn't needed for inital installation of the operating system, but very useful for trouble-shooting purposes ...

I have sun type 6 keyboard and mouse(USB port).

Please don't tell me that you connected a Sun keyboard (with Mini-DIN plug) to the stereo connector of the Creator 3D !

BTW, Can you tell me the pinout for ttyA connecting cable, I am going to use a seriral connection to my laptop for installing Solaris 10.

Download and read the User's Guide and Service Manual. Both manuals are great resources for intial setup and trouble shooting.

If you get stuck (after reviewing these resources), feel free to post again ...

I plug in the USB keyboard in one of USB ports in the back. The mouse was connected to another USB port.

I have looked at SUN blade 1000 service maual. I supposed to get somthing showed up on my Monitor Screen (connecting to Creator3D card) after hit " Stop A" on the USB keyboard. but nothing happened.

"I was able to connnect a PC monitor to Sun blade 1000 through a sun adapter #130-3034"

... exactly as I had guessed in the first paragraph of my response of 22-Sep-06.

The original monitor was unable to display the default 4:3 output of the framebuffer.

Frustrating, yes.

It can often be of value to use older and 'simpler' peripherals

when beginning to configure an unfamiliar system for the first time.
