Hello,

... the ability to attach to Sun's SDLT600 tap drive. According to all of the configuration docs and Webdesk, this is not supported with the Ultra 20/25.

What configuration docs and Webdesk are you referring to ?

Which Sun SDLT600 tape drive ? Maybe StorEdge C2 / Quantum SuperLoader 3 ?

The publicly accessable Full Components Lists for the Ultra 20 (x64) and Ultra 25 (SPARC) both list Ultra320 SCSI Adapters Dual Ultra-320 SCSI/RAID ( X9265A, 370-6682) or PCI Dual Ultra320 SCSI Adapter (SGXPCI2SCSILM320-Z, 375-3365 ).

... and using the Spectrum SSH, the external SDLT600 peripheral

shows information on its SCSI interface, and that it is LVD/SE

One or more of the the adapter cards that were mentioned by Michael would work.

Though I would have hoped to have seen the X6758A card among the choices.

Log in to Sunsolve, go to the SSH, then

Components --> Removable Media (External) --> SDLT600

You'll be able to see that desktop and/or rackable device.

Perhaps it's time to call Sun's pre-sales techsupport.

Those Sun employees would have the best chance to get accurate information for you.

This is just a public discussion forum; not Sun techsupport.

Hi Michael,

The configuration doc I'm referring to is the System Guide (availabe to Sun's Partners) found here:

http://partner.sun.com/products/se-guides/system/index.html

The tape drive in question is part number SG-XTAPSDLT600-D-Z

(Sun SDLT600 desktop tape).

I'm using version 2.2 of the Webdesk application and version 24.0.1 of the Webdesk Configurator.
