Some errors occured with Sun WebServer 6.1 SP6

Hi,

I was installing WS 6.1 SP6 earlier on a Solaris 10 1/06 and 6/06 machine and I hit into a problem I think you might want to look into. Maybe it's a fault of mine but I'm not sure.

Tried to install either:

sun-webserver61-sol.tar.gz

sun-webserver61-Sol64.tar.gz

A javascript was giving errors onFireFox 1.5.0.7andIE 6.0.2800 1106

Logging in to the admin page,

Manage Servers-> Virtual Server Class -> Content Mgmt -> Document Preferences

When I did some changes and tried to submit I hit the following problems on FireFox:

"Invalid mime type, please check help for mime types"

The mime type was "text/plain" but it failed the regex check. Apparently, it's failing the javascript check on FireFox. I can't get the values saved unless I disabled javascript.

On IE however, the JS error icon appears at the bottom left foot corner of the window with a Javascript error (sorry, cant' remember), however I was able to make the changes successfully

I eventually installed WS 6.1 SP4 using the Java ES 2005 Q1 release which had no problems running the install script via console and also no javascript checking.

Thanks for reading!

HiI tried sp6 in Solaris9 machine with Firefox 1.5.0.7 as browser. I didn't see the problem. But I found that mime type validator only check first part of mime type settings e.g text/ or application/. If you have respoducible steps, please post here.

Hi wyb2005,

The steps are mentioned as in my first post, I just installed 6.1 SP6/6.1 SP5 and configured the server, but when it reaches that page on my FireFox browser, it just refuses to save the settings citing the error message

"Invalid mime type, please check help for valid mime types"

On the IE, I can save the settings but there's a javascript error on the page.

On the Java ES 2005 Q1, the 6.1 SP4 doesn't come with javascript checking for the mimetype, so I do not face this problem :)
