SSL between MUX and Server

I understand how to set up SSL between a MUX and the Instant Messenger clients, and I also understand how to set up SSL between several IM Servers. But what about setting up SSL between a MUX and the IM Server it's connected to? Is that possible? How does one set it up? I don't see anything in the documentation, but maybe I've missed something.

We have a situation where the MUX will be in the DMZ and the Server on an Internal LAN, but because the internal LAN isn't fully trusted and because the messages can contain confidential data we need to ensure that the messaging traffic is encrypted both between the clients and the MUX and between the MUX and the Server. (We can use a VPN between the 2, but we would like to avoid that if possible.)

Does anyone know how to configure this? If there's something I missed in the documentation, please feel free to point me to it. Thanks.

We don't support SSL between Mux & Server. You either need to keep your server also in DMZ along with Mux or use VPN between the two. But in IM's upcoming relase we will support Server in TLS mode. So with the upcoming release you will not need to setup SSL between Client & Mux. All communication between Client<->Mux<->Server will be encrypted if you enable TLS on server. So stay tuned for IM's upcoming release in Dec 2006

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. We may not be implementing this feature until December, so maybe we'll just use the new version.

Mux and server in SSL not supported at this time.Other than scalability reasons, there maynt be a need to decouple Mux and Server.VPN/IPSec are other options.thanks-Arun.
