How to boot Sun Blade 100 from an external DVDRW

Hello,

How to boot Sunblade 100 using external DVD RW. I can see the drive within OS as c4t0d0 and /cdrom/cdrom1. How do I boot from it from OK prompt? any ideas. My external case has both USB and firewire.

Also How to do a probe on USB and Firewire ports from OK prompt.

Any ideas suggestions.

Thanks

I am almost certain its not possible - the OBP does not have the capability to boot from USB devices even though the device can be seen (from the OBP)...I think the Unofficial Sun Blade 100 FAQ mentions this also...

I concur.

That platform doesn't have the native ability to boot from USB devices.

This is not a PeeCee.

External SCSI or FCAL drives ?

Sure, because those are "traditional" tecnologies.

USB ? Nope.

In 2001, when the SB100 first shipped to customers,

( or in 2000 while the design of the system was being created )

USB was a technology for keyboards and mice. Period.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess, I may have to pop in the DVD-rw from my external case into the blade to boot it then !!

If you have any other solaris machine on the network, then setting up a jumpstart server may be the go.
