Solaris 10 patched 6.0

I am in need of help. I have sunfire v210 running solaris 10 Preinstalled. I want to login to this box remotely and have somthing like remote desktop in Windows. i get display not found error message. I have complete network connectivity

Are you login as root?

Have you pound out CONSOLE from /etc/default/login

Check env to see what is DISPLAY set as?

I use exceed to remote login but you can realVNC it is free.

You have to set up the server

I logged in as root but i could never comment out the CONSOLE varible from /etc. It kept saying that the file was read only.

I am not sure if i should change the permission being the root.

The other issue is how can i display a login dialog box at the remote machine. Now before i launch into GNOME desktop, i get a blue screen with solaris icon and two words in the center - proxy manager.

I have setup the VNC server part on my solaris box and i have the client on my laptop, which on our network.

Also in my env i don't see display
