Looking for some information on Sun Ray

Hi

We currently have some reps lined up to come in and demonstrate the Sun Ray technology where I work. However, I am after some information and a few questions hopefully being answered before this meeting goes ahead so I'm a little prepped. And also to get your opinions on what will happen or how the implementation may work.

Currently, we have no thin clients in the workplace. They access local applications and networked applications. We've just come to the end of a rollout cycle of a smart card system that is Citrix based to an RDP session over a web browser.

Having read some information about the Sun Ray but not much, what will be the ideas already forumlating in the heads? All I have been told is that this nifty bit of hardware allows you to take out your card and restore sessions on another terminal.

Are these totally thin client terminals or could this work on our existing infrastruture? i.e. will we need to either replace fat clients with thin clients or run then in conjunction with each other?

Thanks

Danny

hey,

those are "totally thin clients" as you described; if you want to have rdp access to

existing windows infrastructure, you should use rdesktop client (sun windows connector 1.1

or rdesktop.org selfcompiled), running on the sunray server.

this is way cheaper than a citrix based solution. :)
