Sun Ray 1s no longer working after patch, Can't login to console

I'm a Solaris newbie, but got a Sun Ray 1 working with SRSS 4 in my home lab using Solaris 10 on an x86 server. I tried to get the Sun Ray Connector to work. After installing the patches and the connector, I tried it and got a segmentation fault. I rebooted to see if that would help. Since then, I get a 26D fault on my Sun Ray, and I can't log into CDE or JDS from the console. All I could find was this in dmesg:

Jul 8 10:38:49 scales-solaris DesktopControl[1151]: [ID 283427 user.error] An error occurred creating the launchers: Connection failure

Jul 8 10:38:49 scales-solaris DesktopControl[1151]: [ID 444735 user.info] listeningfor changes to launcher definitions

Jul 8 10:38:49 scales-solaris DesktopControl[1152]: [ID 188575 user.error] An error occurred starting the applications: Connection failure

Jul 8 10:42:34 scales-solaris DesktopControl[1151]: [ID 299098 user.error] An error occurredwhile running the desktop applications'launchers' plugin: Connection failure

Jul 8 10:42:34 scales-solaris DesktopControl[1151]: [ID 185135 user.info] updating applications menu definition

Jul 8 10:46:19 scales-solaris DesktopControl[1151]: [ID 113572 user.error] An error occurredwhile running the desktop applications'menu' plugin: Connection failure

The Sun Ray admin web page shows lots of errors like this:

Jul 8 10:30:36 [192.168.1.245.2.2] 0x0.0x290f 8:0:20:b9:5:ce Network: TCBDaemon: packet receive error

I'm at loss for what to do. Any help would be appreciated

The messages you're getting regarding the launchers, menu and applications are normal, since you're most likely not using the Sun Desktop Manager, and shouldn't interfere with your ability to use Sun Rays or to log in directly on the machine.

I'm afraid I can't help you that much with your login problem, though I'd think there might be two separate issues if you can neither get your Sun Ray connected to your server, nor login in the standard fashion. Could you please be more specific on what the behaviour of the system is when you try and login directly?

Incidentally, you can find the log files of the Sun Ray Server Software activity in /var/opt/SUNWut/log, maybe more information can be found there.

Well, I went ahead and downloaded the latest Solaris 10, 6/06 and just rebuilt it from scratch. It took much longer to download than to rebuild it. I went through the directions and got everything back working, including Sun Ray Connector in kiosk mode. While looking for more error logs, I found that their was a DT Session error. It might been corrupted files because I had previously installed x11VNC and Rdesktop. Regardless, I'm up and running. Thanks
