SunMC 3.6 agent for Linux - can't see the port in use

Hi folks

I just installed the 3.6 agent on a linux box but I can't get the server to speak to it.

I do a netstat -a and grep for the port I'm using but it is not showing up.

The documention contains very little with regards to troubleshooting linux agents.

Adding this machine on the server end as SNMP ping does work, so I'm guessing I need to somehow open my port on the linux box? I don't know how to do this on linux for a service

that does not have a directory under /etc.

Anyone have any ideas?

Here is the OS level on the Redhat Linux box:

Linux asd05547 2.6.9-34.EL #1 Fri Feb 24 16:46:41 EST 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64GNU/Linux

Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 3)

Thanks

Bill

This does not look like a problem with the Linux agent but configuration issue with the box . You can do ./es-config to find out which ports are used by sunmc. If you want to reconfigure the ports then do ./es-config -pHTHGaurav

The ports are assigned as they should be, and I can see that with es-config.The problem is that the port I assigned does not show up when I do a listing with netstat -a.On Solaris boxes you would see the port as idle when all is well.
