cannot lable EMC disk

I tried to label some EMC disk which have been connected to our sun server but

the system tells me:

Specify disk (enter its number): 33

selecting c8t500604844893D43Cd0

[disk formatted]

Disk not labeled. Label it now? yes

Warning: error writing VTOC.

Warning: no backup labels

Write label failed

anybody knows something what I can do next ? thanks
