Tape Backups Failing Solaris 8 Ultra-Enterprise 450

We were having Fatal Write errors in var/adm/messages, and we replaced the internal XL tape drive with a refurbished one. The tape backups still aren't working; they fail after a small percentage is written to tape. We're getting the following Warnings in var/adm/messages. What do Warnings like these mean? Thanks for any insight.

glm errors can often mean that you need to patch the host. If you have a Sun contract, do a search for glm patches in sunsolve. You need to be careful of the OS version for the patch. You are probably one of the thousands of people out there that have seen this problem.

There is also a good chance that the repalcement tape drive is faulty.I have replaced many of those devices because the replacement was no good or they failed quickly after installation. There was a Sun Alert about those Mammoth tape drives.

Not good news for you.
