impossible update SO8 settings

I'm using Star Office 8 in Windows XP, recently I update it to update 3 rev. 2.

If I try change standard language from english to italian it seems the setting has changed. If I close SO8 and then I open it again the change is retained.

But if I reboot and I open SO8 the language is again english.

The same happen with the list of recently opened files.

It seems that at reboot the file containing settings is overwritten with an old version.

Someone can tell me in which file settings are stored in Windows XP?

Thursday, August 31, 2006Sounds like one of your settings has been left as system default, or you have not changed the language in your default template.Phil

As I wrote I change settings from menu Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages. And If I close and open again SO8 in the same session, settings are retained.

Anyway "Recent Documents" list has the same bahaviour but it isn't possible to set it

14 sept 2006: I removed Star Office 8 and reinstalled it, always using update 3 rev. 2 and it seems working as espected. But after few reboot the problem come up again. The "Recent Documents" list is overwritten at boot with an old version, that never change.

To test if the language settings have stuck you have to exit the quick starter and restart.

[1] Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages is only one place to change languages. If your system is not set to Italian, then to change to the "Language of" settings in addition to those for the Documents (and Italian system files need to be installed).

[2] Also as noted, you have to change the settings in your templates. SO opens using a default template which is shipped using the US-English. You have to create an Italian default template. In fact the default template overrides the Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages settings.

[3] The language also has to be changed in the AutoCorrect field.

[4] Another possibility, if you are saving in WinWord format, is that language bug in the WinWord conversion which existed from SO5-7 has not been completely removed (it used to default to German).
