spellcheck "alte deutsche Rechtschreibung" doesn't work in SO8

In SO7 in (german) Extras > Optionen > Spracheinstellungen > Linguistik you could check "Alte deutsche Rechtschreibung", so that a "da? is correct. In SO8 this doesn't work. Although it is checked, the word "da? is readlined. Should I submit this to OOo issue tracker or will you handle this directly?

kind regards

If I understand correctly you are seeking to use Old German characters and have them spell checked.

I am running English versions, but have the German spell checkers installed. Last night I ran a quick German test last night using one word using OOo1.1.4, SO7 and SO8. That word was handled correctly with all versions.

The source of your problem may be caused by the switch from CorrectSpell (SO7) dictionaries to Franklin (SO8). OOo uses MySpell and now its derivative HunSpell. You can add MySpell German dictionaries to your SO8 setup--that might give you what you are seeking.

I've got the files grm92,ths, grm104.hsp, grm.fca, grm.hyp, grmphon.env installed by SO8. Do you too?

Are you sure for SO8?

Please write "Sch鰊, da?du kommst."

In Tools >Options >...>Writing Aids uncheck "German spelling - old" . The word "da? should be readlined. Now check "German spellin - old". The word "da? should not be readlined.

How can I do that? There is no such thing in the setup nor a wizard like in OOo.

Ok now I see what you mean. I was able to duplicate the problem. But testing this phrase in SO7 found that "da? was not readlined, whether the setting was checked or not.

Download the following file and open it. This the macro for downloading and installing dictionaries.

http://openoffice.mirrors.tds.net/pub/openoffice/contrib/dictionaries/dicooo/Di cOOo.sxw

After you have downloaded them open the options and turn on the MySpell dictionaries.

Only difference is GRM32, but as seen below, it is not the problem.

For me SO7 works correct. Perhaps you have installed additional dictionaries?

That works in the technical part, but it doesn't solve the problem because OOo hasn't got a dictionary for only old spelling. If you will use the "combined" dictionary, all words are allowd. But that is not correct. A document should use either old or new spelling rules. In OOo it is not implemented at all.

And as technical aspect, I doubt, that the checkbox in SO will consider OOo-dictionaries.

Because it workes in SO7 and doesn't work in SO8, it is a bug. I have reported it now to http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=67386. I hope they will sent it to the right person.

Searching the Web I found Old German MySpell dictionaries

http://j3e.de/myspell/

You have to manually install it and remove the Franklin Proximity dictionaries, but it appears to work.

The problem lies with the spell checker switch. CorrectSpell was always able to switch between the Germans.
