XEmacs bundled with SunStudio 11

Hi there,

I 've just installed Solaris in a Pentium4 laptop and an Athlon-XP desktop.

I used the Solaris 10.0 6/06 version and the Companion CD coming with

Solaris 10.0 6/06. When I installed the packages from the companion CD

I was surprised to see that 'xemacs' couldn't run. It was killed with a message

saying:

couldn't find libncurses.so.5 no such file or directory .

The companion DVD provides only static versions of the ncurses libraries.

Have the Sun developers missed that point?

On the other hand 'xemacs' coming with SunStudio 11 tarball works fine.

Could somebody tell me which is the most appropriate forum to post this

message since this is not so much related to C++? Sun web page is so huge

that it is not so easy finding what you want.

Since SunSolaris 10 Companion DVD provides xemacs why to include it in

sunstudio as well? Then one who may want to install all the packages from

the companion and "export" PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH may get in trouble.

I suggest asking in the Solaris 10 general discussion forum at http://forum.sun.com/jive/index.jspa?tab=solarissince your problem is with Solaris and its companion CD, not with Sun Studio.
