installing the JDK on s390 64 bit linux

Hi,

not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but I thought I would give this a try anyway. I am trying to install the JAVA 1_5_0_07 sdk for linux on a suse enterprise edition v9 s390 linux server. This is a 64 bit version of linux. I am getting an error when i try to run the self extracting file after uploading it to my server.

here are the messages I see:

Do you agree to the above license terms? [yes or no]

yes

Extracting...

./jdk-1_5_0_07-linux-i586-rpm.bin: line 413: ./install.sfx.6402: cannot execute binary file

any idea's what may be causing this error and how to correct the problem?

thanks,

Rich

This forum is about using Sun Studio C/C++/Fortran development tools on Linux. You should ask your question in a Java forum. I suggest the forum devoted to Java installation: http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=14
