I was trying to install solaris 8 on Dl585 and Dl 380 G4. On both servers
installation hangs after selecting the installation type (just after it displays the copyright info).
Has anyone experienced this same problem? Please let me know if there is workaroud for this issue.

Solaris 8 is too old to be able to fuction on Opteron 8xx or on dual-core Xeon modules.
Solaris 8 is about to [url=http://www.sun.com/service/eosl/solaris/solaris_vintage_eol_5.2005.xml]go EOL in February 2007[/url],
thus there is no reason to add functionality for new hardware.
I would expect Solaris 9 to also have problems with such hardware.
An attempt to install Sol-8 to such systems is comparable to
attempting to install Windows NT 3.5 to them.
You're two generations of OS behind the equipment.
