Installing video driver for Solaris 9 on Dell Dimension 2300
I am not able to install the video driver properly for solaris 9....currently only using console cannot start X window
My old Dell dimension 2300 1.8Ghz CPU has only 128MB so I installed the older solaris 9 instead of solaris 10.It uses the intel integrated extreme graphics intel i845G chipset I think....cannot find a suitable video driver in the list.
In the kdmconfig program, tried using the generic VESA driver and the XFree86 VESA driver and the XFree86 Intel i810 driver, still cannot get it to work
I either get a black screen or a black screen with white dots on it or the something like the following and hangs
"Couldn,t probe screen #0.....
Fatal Server Error.....
XIO fatal IO error 146(Connection refused on X Server)....."
What driver should I use for intel i845G?It's not listed on the list?

Buy more RAM.
(Even MS's operating systems need more than 128MB to run effectively.)
Else use a compatible video card, such as the ATI Rage,
which you should find at a swap-meet for about $2.
Use Solaris 10. It has compatibility with the I845 chipset.
I think Solaris 9 ended on the I810 or I815 chipsets,
and still had issues with integrated graphics.
Then buy more RAM.

Manage to find a old motherboard with the extra PC133 128MB of RAM will be installing Solaris 10 on 256MB of RAM hope it works this time.
I still cannot get the Solaris 10 GUI working on my dell dimension 2300 pc with 256MB ram.
choose intel 845 brooklyn chipset and also the intel i830 chipset also does not work no video only console.
Has anyone run teh Solaris 10 on a 845 chipset motherboard?
Have installed solaris 10 on another computer with 512 MB and Nvidia GEForce 2 GTS video card. How to connect a brandless 802.11b wireless adapter to Solaris 10.drivers? only windows provided by manufacturer
