Strange disk name with Emulex 10000 HBA

Hi,

I have a newly installed V210 with one single port Emulex 10000 HBA connected via a brocade switch to our san (1 100 GB disk).

I Use the SFS 4.4.10 with all the latest patches and recommended cluster is also installed.

We use the Sun emlxs driver and not lpfc from Emulex.

All works fine, but the disk name is very strange....

Output of the format command:

AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:

0. c0t0d0 <SUN72G cyl 14087 alt 2 hd 24 sec 424>

/pci@1c,600000/scsi@2/sd@0,0

1. c0t1d0 <SUN72G cyl 14087 alt 2 hd 24 sec 424>

/pci@1c,600000/scsi@2/sd@1,0

2.c2t5005076300C4B17Fd0 <IBM-2105800-3.79 cyl 11918 alt 2 hd 64 sec 256>

/pci@1d,700000/fibre-channel@1/fp@0,0/ssd@w5005076300c4b17f,0

Any ideas on how to get a normal c2txdy

We have a similar setup with a QLogic HBA and devices are normally named..

That's what you have. It's just that the 't' address is longer than it is on scsi.

With the leadville framework, there's no way to map from a WWN to a "short" digit. Is this causing any problems?

It all depends on the drivers. Some drivers manufacture a mapping from WWN to a small digit. But there are problems if the mapping becomes wrong. Leadville avoids those particular problems by exposing the WWN directly.
