Solaris compatability with Sun Ultra 2 and Blade 150 workstations.
Could any person advise if Solaris Software (not sure of version) is compatible between the Sun Ultra 2 and Blade 150 Workstations. I am working on a rail project in indonesia and we expected just to update the software for the exisitng Sun Ultra 2 workstations but have since discovered the client has obtained Blade 150 workstations.
Any assistance no matter how small would be appreciated.

Yes, in general software should be completely compatible between them. They are both using ultra sparc processors.
If you talking precompiled software, then you should be aware that solaris OS releases are forward compatible, but not necessarily backwards compatible.
So if software is compiled on solaris 8, it should be runnable on a machine running solaris 8,9 or 10. But software compiled on solaris 9 is not necessarily runnable on solaris 8.
So you should check what version of solaris is installed on the blades or compile on the same hardware as it will run on.
If your talking about the solaris OS itself, ie if the customer is expecting you to install solaris on the Blade 150s.
Then the blade 150's minimum OS release is solaris 8 2/02.
Whereas the ultra 2 is supported back to 2.5.1
So you will need to obtain a cd for solaris 8 2/02 or later.
