solaris 10 installation issue - pls help...

I am trying to install Solaris 10 on the window XP Pro machine.

I downloaded using Sun Downloadmanager all 5 cd zip files (x86 version) and burnt the image using NERO onto 5 cd's. I popped the FIRST cd and restarted the system. The bootable cd starts with the following

GNU BRUB Version 0.95 (6391k Low / 916464k Upper memory)

Solaris

Solaris Serial Console ttya

Solaris Serial Console ttya for 1x50 v60x v65x

I selected the FIRST option (Solaris). After that, I see the following message:

Sun OS release 5.10 version Generic 118855-14 32 Bit

Copyright 1983-2005 - All rights reserved

Use is subject to license terms

Then the CURZOR stay their doing nothing. What should, I do to proceed further with the installation. Appreciate your input/response.

By the way, I have installed Solaris 9.0 on this window machine without any problem. I don't know what the hell is going on with Solaris 10.

My System Info:

PIII 733 MHz / 1GB RAM / 120GB Hard Disk / Nvidia Video Card

Hi Ramlan,

I was having this problem which you describe. There is some issue with an install to a multi-core processor machine. To overcome it, I had to edit the GRUB commands. You can read this solution at the url listed below, but read all the way to the end, because that is where the complete instructions which worked for me are.

Good luck,
