boot cdrom via a tip session gives strange output

Hello, I need to recover a sun fire system - it has no terminal -

so I used tip from a netra

a null modem cable between the netra and sun fire connectiong the serial port b to the LOM port

the boot cdrom starts but then stops - is it failing due to the lack of some controls on my local stty ?

tip /dev/term/b -9600
