Unable to plumb hme1

Hi All,

I have just been given a Netra T1 105 with 2 onboard NICs on it, hme0 and hme1. hme0 is fine, I can set IP address on it and so on. However, hme1 doesn't show and if I try to plumb it I get the error:

ifconfig: status: SIOCGLIFFLAGS: plumb: no such interface

I have been checking out forums for the last couple of days and followed the advice but so far I still cannot successfully plumb the second port.

prtconf -vp does indicate two network devices for Node 0xf002db88 (not sure what this node represents but it also exist in another Netra T1 105 that I used to compare to this one...that Netra has both hmes ok. The only significant difference that I can see is the difference in OS, it runs 5.8 but the one I am having problems with runs 5.9):

net2: '/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/network@3,1'

net: '/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/network@1,1'

However, prtconf -vp only list one of the NICs. I have tried a reboot -ar at the prompt (but chose default answers on reboot). But hme1 is still not recognised.

I am guessing that because the OS can only detect one NIC, "/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/network@3,1" 1 "hme" isn't going to be in /etc/path_to_inst. (I have tried adding this into path_to_inst but no good).

I am guessing either hme1 is bung (even though it's link light comes up when I connect it to a switch) or the driver isn't set right. Anyone come across this before or can help?

Thanks in advance.
