Hello.

Is the windows folder on the same machine on an NTFS patition or on a different machine?

In the first case:

I'm the maintainer of a freeware program ("ntfs mount" on sourceforge) that allows you to mount an NTFS partition read-only from Solaris.

In the second case:

The free version of "sharity" has a bug: When unmounting the /etc/mnttab file is destroyed when using the program with a new (newer than Sol 2.x) Solaris version. The system MUST be rebooted then. The problem is fixed in the commercial version but it will not be fixed in the free version (according to the company which sells "sharity").
