Sun Ultra 45

Hello...As i know Sun Ultra 45 come with Solaris 10. If i were to use a software which is compatible only for Solaris 8, can i request my supplier to instally Solaris 8 instead of Solaris 10? Would it affect the software? Eg. ProMAXThank you.

Nope. The Ultra 45 have a UltraSPARC IIIi CPU, and the drivers for that CPU and its chipsets are only included in Solaris 10. I'ld try and run the software under Sol 10, chances are that i'll work. 7/M.

screen25,

Please read the first response one more time.

Sun Ultra 45 workstaions require Solaris 10 or newer.

It must be the January '06 release or newer.

Even the first, March '05, release of Solaris 10 is too old for the Ultra 45 hardware.

This OS requirement is what the HARDWARE needs.

Install your application.

It should work.

If it doesn't, then go back to the application vendor and buy a version that does work under Solaris 10.
