Sun Solaris Hostname/network configutaion

Hi Everyone,

I have Sun Solaris 5.8 installed on Sun Netra Server, but not able to configure the hostname and configure the network card. For Hostname I have edited hosts.conf,resolv.conf,hostname.eri0,nodename files in /etc , and on rebooting it comes with unknown console login:

Also let me know what are the steps to configure and enable network card on Solaris ( like restarting network service in Redhat i.e 'service network restart'

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

HJ

Hello there.Have you looked at the /etc/ti*/hosts files? The following six files should contain the hostname:/etc/hosts/etc/ti*/hosts/etc/nodename/etc/hostname.<interface>

Run /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig. It is your friend, and will do everything the Right Way.

If you have a file /etc/dhcp.eri0, remove it and reboot
