sol 10 iso cd burn

I've downloaded the sol10 iso for cds

I've read all the posts on burning the iso compilation

I've used nero 6.6 to burn the iso compilation

I have as a resut of this a cd with the solaris files(not just 1 iso) but the cdtoc files ,.install_config etc...along with the folder soalris_10

the cd looks good

I try & boot to it on a sunbalde100 & get bad magic number in disk label..etc...

I've wasted sevral cds trying to come up with something that will install..nothing works

I have the sol10 dvd but the blade only has a cdrom

so:

how to burn the iso's for cd?

is there a way to "cut" the dvd up?

any advice apreciated

thanks

tim

Step #8 in the following web page might help you get around the issue. http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/solaris-express/express_singleinstructions. xml

I've had varying amounts of luck with Nero, showing the same symptoms as yours with an E420R and also on a Sun Blade150.Using Roxio EasyCD 6 has produced the best results with burning the iso media to CD, oddly enough.Good luck.

Interesting...

I downloaded the 5 .zip files containing the Solaris 10 SPARC ISOs, and when unzipping them, they nearly all give CRC errors!

I tried again using Sun Download Manager, and it also gave errors!

The files produced had a .iso extension, and Easy CD appeared to create a working CD from them, but when installing, it couldn't read any of the packages off the disc to install, so failed.

My question is: Is there a known problem with the downloadable .zip files on SunSolve, and is there a way of getting the .iso files native, ie, not zipped?

Thanks

You can burn with Nero.To do this choose in Recorder menu: Burn Image, choose your *.iso file. All my ISO's were burn on Nero, and I never had problems.

I too have had a few bad burns. Can't say why either. Suse and Solaris. Suse suggests that it is a pad issue. My solution if it worked was to slow the burn speed to very slow.

I also had no problems burning ISO images using Nero. Use Nero Express and choose option to burn ISO image to disk. Can give you step by step instructions to do it (if you need)Regards,BGeo
