Manual Patching...

good day again.newbie question here... how do you update Solaris 10 manually? and do you need to have a SunSolve account in order to download them? thanks much.midnytblu

*finds Edit button... none*... forgot to add... the server is not connected to the net so I have to download the files manually from another computer and copy it over to the solaris server... and, yes, i don't intend to connect it to the net... thank you very it much :D

Download the recommended patchset from sunsolve and install that.

For Solaris 10 you can only download security (and HW) patches for free. Recommended patches requires sunsolve account with service plan.But when you get the patches to disk, burn then to CD and bring them to your offline server./Gunnar

In Solaris 7,8,9 recommended seems to be available to everyone. SUN has changed the policy for patches in Solaris 10 and you have to pay for support but let Solaris 10 be free to use.
