x4100 to x4200 migration

I'd like to migrate from an x4100 to a new x4200 due to a need for more PCI slots, but don't want to reload the OS (RedHat Enterprise V4) and applications.

If I were to take two RAID'd disks from an x4100 and put them into an x4200, with an identical RAID setup, would they be accepted by the x4200 and run identically?

Hi,

I don't think that you can just swap the drives because you need to tell the LSI raid controller about the configuration first.

If you have enough spare drives I'd suggest this path: create a new identical raid on the target machine using empty harddrives, then replace the empty drives with the x4100 drives and have a careful look at the raid bios after startup.

hope that helps
