X4200 SAS RAID Configuration Utility Error

Hi,

I'm trying to access the SAS RAID Configuration Utility. When the machine boots and begings to load the RAID firmware, I hit Ctrl+C to enter the configuration utility, but I am then given the error message "configuration utility text strings image memory error" and the machine reboots.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Grant

I found that I was using an old version for the LSI BIOS/Firmware. I upgraded to the latest version and the problem went away.

Hello Grant,

What process did you use to upgrade the LSI BIOS and firmware? I've downloaded all the pertinent files from Sun, but the only readme files included were release notes that just mentions bug fixes.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Grant,

I used the ISO that has both the BIOS and Firmware upgrades.

To get to it, go to:

http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=45007c22

Click 'download' towards the bottom,

Click the 'Accept' button,

download 'LSI Firmware and BIOS update using CD method, English'

Burn it to a CD and boot off of it and it will do everything automatically. It was very easy.

Hope that helps.

Good luck,

Grant

It did help. Thanks again.

Now what I'm trying to figure out is how to mimic certain controls within the LSI utility remotely (via the java remote console or serial port). For example, I can't figure out how to Alt+N to view the status of the second array I set up.

Can this only be done locally with a keyboard plugged into the server?

Regards,

Grant
