X4200 server, is it possible to use SATA drives instead of SAS drives

Hello,We are planning to purchase X4200 servers; According to documentation, they use SAS drive, which are quite expensive. So is it possible to use SATA drives? I read somewhere that their interface is similar and SATA can work with SAS.ThanksSteve

Hello,

I don't see any SATA drives listed for the X4200.

To quote rukbat:

"If there is any sort of warranty or service contract coverage on that box,

you will need to use Sun parts if you hope to maintain active coverage

for that warranty or contract. Parts from third-party sellers may invalidate

or suspend the coverage for as long as they are in the chassis."

This customer may be looking to buy a system like A65-NFZ1-1N-1G-AL8. This system is available for sale without hard drives and DVD drive. If you have the idea of purchasing the system and using " off the shelf " PC components instead of Sun options, then please contact Sun sales or a Sun iForce partner. Sun engineers are recommending some 3rd party hardware for x64 based systems.
