X2100 SATA issues

Hi there,

we've bought an X2100 server with 80 GB SATA disk. After 2 weeks of working, the disk attached into the 1st disk bay was not recognized. We got another disk - with the same result: sometimes the BIOS recognizes it, sometimes not. The second bay is correct.

What the hell is it?

Sounds like the drive cable came loose at the backplane or the motherboard. I've seen loose cables on a very small subset of x2100s. I reseat the drive backplane cables. Could also be a motherboard, but less likely.

You ever figure out the issue here? I just had a 2 Day old X2100 80GB Hitachi Drive fail...I think. The machine hangs during the POST operations if the drive is plugged in. IF I remove the drive the server will continue to boot...albeit w/o a HD. ON the Mobo it shows Error 75 not sure what that means.

It exibits the same behavior if I switch HD bays also. The drive however IS recognized in the BIOS right before it hangs.

I have a case open w/ Sun Warranty
