tarantella seamless windows problem

Hi there,

I am trying to set up seamless windows, everything is set as it should be yet it still fails to work...

windows 2003 terminal server

Sun Secure Global Desktop Enhancement Module is installed on the server

The Windows application object is configured for RDP and to use a seamless window

client version 4.20.909

When i open an application instead of opening in a seamless window it opens up in an independant window.

any thought?

thanks.

I have had the same on one windows XP client. Since all clients are being made with a sysprep, this system has been reinstalled again and the problems were gone. It is a problem on the client side. My thoughts are a mix up between several java versions including the msjava.- Remold

Hi RemoldI'm having the same issue as the other poster and I was hoping you could go into a little more detail about what version of 2003 server you have and what version of java you used to sucessfully launch a seamless window.Thanks.Rikki

what client are you using? Seamless windows is only available using/sgd URL and supported clients. You mention Java below and the Java client (Classic webtop) is not a supported Seamless client.

Got another question about the seamless windows apps. I was expecting that once you closed the application this would kill the session to the application in sgd like it does if you open an app in an indepandant window aqnd then close it.

However after setting up word and notepad to launch in the seamless window I've found that I have to kill the session via the toolbar in the sgd desktop window as if I dont the session just sits there

I also tired this with one of our 2000 terminal servers and had the same problem with it too the session wont close on its own.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Rikki

Are you sure all applications are closed? It could be possible that the "C:\Program Files\Tarantella\Enhancement Module\ttatdm.exe" is still open or that the login-script (from AD or local) starts extra small applications (mail notifier, print control application, etc).

Open "C:\Program Files\Tarantella\Enhancement Module\ttatdm.exe" when logged on via the desktop and make sure the debug-menu "start visable" option is deselected.

We arn't using the thick client because as far as i can see seamless windows only works through the SGD browser. This problem is really hit and miss, most of the time its ok, the seamless window pops up fine and when you close it the session ends. However, qbout 1 in 5 times (roughly) when you close the seamless window the session sticks and you have to close it manually either via object manager or via the SGD apps panel.

there is no pattern to this at all, very frustrating :-(

Hi,

I have nearly the same problem but in my configuration the seamless windows are working on the SSGD Server (Fedora Core 4) itself and on the Windows 2003 Application Server. If I try to use the semaless windows on my Win XP Client (either with Internet Explorer or with Firefox) it doesn't work - and I have no idea what the problem can be.

It worked once as I installed the Sun Secure Global Desktop Enhancement Module on the Windows 2003 Application Server and then tried to start a application which uses seamless windows but the next time I started an application there was no seamless window. I also tried to uninstall the Enhancement Module and reinstall it, but that doesn't help.

Maybe someone can help me!

Thanks in advance!

best regards

Ren?

remember that there are some constraints to Seamless windows http://docs.sun.com/source/819-4309-10/en-us/base/standard/seamless_windows.htm l
