Hi,
What version of messaging server are you running ? (./imsimta version)
When you say the server is down, do you get an error message, does the http log record _any_ activity during the time?
Are other parts of messaging server working e.g. email delivery, IMAP/POP access?
Is there any issues with the directory server during this time (e.g. its not working?)
Regards,
Shane.

Hi,
You are currently running an extremely old version. The latest publically available patch (patch 2) can be downloaded from:
http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=411bb50d
You should definitely try updating your patch level first - there could be any number of reasons/bugs that have already been fixed which is your problem.
If you need any patches after this for some reason then you will need to log a Sun support request (assuming of course you have a support contract).
Regards,
Shane.
In addition to what Shane has to say, you actually need to do more examination of your system.
When you can't log into webmail, is the process, "mshttpd" running, or not? If not, that means that the process has stopped for some reason. Typically, if it stops for any reason other than you stopping it, it will attempt to drop a core file.
Your system needs to be configured so it can drop a core file. Getting a pstack from the core file can indicate exactly what the problem is. There were literally hundreds of bug fixes made since 2002, when the code you're running was released, all included in 5.2p2. In the two years since then, there have been many more fixes, however, those are only available to users with support contracts.
In any case, you should be thinking about upgrading to 6.2, soon. 5.2 is reaching End Of Support Life.
